LAYERING UP!

The thought of having to put “ our face on” in the morning to last all day- night… maybe into the early morning if we are lucky, has most of us reaching for one product, usually a thick, full coverage foundation that we hope will last the test of time. However, the secret is to apply thin layers, buffed well into the skin, giving a much more natural glow, to avoid your make up looking and feeling far heavier than you would normally wear.

Start by having a very well prepped skin, really clean, and lots of hydration to stop your base going patchy throughout the day. Try cleansing with an oil to keep skin hydrated but then avoid oils in the rest of your routine. A fine plumping mist prior to a hydrating serum, will leave a juicy base. Try Clinique Moisture Surge Supercharge Concentrate and Spray.

An oil free SPF is a must if your heading outdoors for the day. Try Murad City skin SPF 50 for a sheer veil of luminous protection.

Using carefully considered skin care, will act as a good primer, but if you require that extra security that your face won’t budge, then a thin veil of primer, concentrating on the t-zone, and not forgetting the eyelids should be applied at this stage! Try Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer, for super radiance.

Now on to your foundation…….apply only to areas you feel you need the coverage, you don’t have to slap on a full mask if there’s nothing to correct/cover, and make sure you’re blending well. Apply a second fine layer, starting at the centre of the face a blend out to the edges or your face, for a seamless finish. Then conceal if needed, over any areas of redness, or stubborn blemishes. This is best done using a clean warm finger, and press into the skin, to avoid tell tale patches.

Try Max Factor Miracle Touch Second Skin foundation for the most natural, effortless finish.

To set your look use a fine powder, only on areas where we are prone to produce more oil throughout the day, and where we want to set in stone. Do this by using a small fluffy brush, so you can get precision, avoiding powdering areas we want to stay dewy& highlighted. A finely milled powder that will not settle into places we don’t want to emphasize is best, try Laura Mercier Translucent Setting powder Glow.
